About

I have been interested in photography for most of my life. About 25 years ago I entered the world of wedding photography. More recently I discovered the wonderful world of Microstock Photography. A world that allowed me to earn money from my photography, yet with a freedom, not only of time but freedom to express myself creatively.

I remember my Granddad arriving home with a very old looking ‘Box Brownie’ camera; I was only about four years old. I used to play with the camera photographing the neighbours and surrounding areas. I had no film in the camera of course but I went through the motions. (Don't know what the Bride would say if I did that now!)

My father had his own workshop where I would go and stand at the bench on a stool and plane off cuts of softwood. From there my interest in wood and joinery grew and grew. When I reached my teen years all I wanted for Christmas and Birthdays was tools. Not just any tools but ‘Stanley’ tools.

When I reached the age of fifteen I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship with one of the areas Building Contractors and more importantly, leading joinery manufacturers. This was the one job that I wanted because everyone that I spoke to remarked on their unrivalled reputation for high quality workmanship. This was my dream job come true because I did not want to do anything else or work for anyone but C.Gant & Son.

In those days it was tradition for you to keep all the money in your first wage packet. I went down to the local Camera Shop and bought and bought a ‘Cosmic Symbol’ camera. A 35mm Rangefinder model. I always remember the case having a strange distinctive smell.

In 1988 (pictured) I gained my Licentiate with The Royal Photographic Society, LRPS after joining the local Photographic Society. Around this time my hobby became an obsession. I went through the usual route of photographing weddings, christenings and portraits before finding my niche, Architectural and Interior Photography.

It was inevitable that eventually my two main interests would collide and I now produce images for six major internet based Picture Libraries. Each Library supplying highly competitive markets that satisfy advertisers, publishers, printers and designers. With over 12,000 picture sales to date, I am constantly looking to add to my portfolio of my top selling images. Although I look at Architectural Photography as my speciality I also love to shoot portraits and studio still-life as seen here, on my website.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for looking through my images!
